Description

Start your tour in the center of the Old Town at the main square known as the Constitution square where you will see the Konstituzio Plaza. The construction took place in 1817 under the architect Ugartemendia. Every year, many cultural events take place at this very place. Your next stop will be the Church of San Vicente Mártir. The building structure resembles Gothic architecture and dates back to the 16th century. Here, you will find two extraordinary works of art by the Sculptor Felipe de Arizmendi which are referred to as the 'medall of souls' and the 'Ecce Horno'. As you continue, you will walk on August 31 Street, which is one of the oldest streets in town and also connects two of the oldest churches. The street name aligns with the date when people remember the war with Napoleon. Continue on to visit the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus. Completed in the year 1774, this church is designed in Baroque style. Here, you will notice that the main portal of the building is placed in between two towers. You will also get to see the sculpture of San Sebastián and the main altarpiece which is dedicated to the Virgin of the Choir. Next, you will see the picturesque San Sebastián City Hall which was used as a Casino in the past. Prominent Europeans gambled at this place until gambling was banned in 1920. Today it is used as a city hall and the building has its own grandeur. Walk by the San Sebastián Cathedral, a very beautiful building located close to the Beach of La Concha. It is dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus. Its tower stands 75 meters tall, and on its inside are stained glass windows. Finish your tour at the Beach of La Concha. The white sand beach is one of the most famous attractions of the city and offers clear waters. It has also been featured as one of the best beaches in Europe.
